14 July '22

We proudly present our (online) annual report: "Highlights 2021"! In this edition, the focus is on "working together". “If you want to produce groundbreaking societal miracles, you need a co-pilot - a partner who shares a vision, yet masters a different professional discipline,” Eric van Walle, Director-General of SCK CEN, explains. In short: two partners pursuing a common goal. This annual report compiles all the high-profile partnerships into which we entered in 2021. We hope that you enjoy reading this edition!

Every year, in its annual report, the nuclear research centre SCK CEN collects striking examples of fascinating developments in the fields in which it is active. 2021 was another high-flying year! That is something of which we can rightly be proud. We are proud of our employees who give their best year after year, and also proud of our partners. There is a specific reason for this.

"Experience has taught us that we can only really consolidate growth by working together. If you want to produce groundbreaking societal miracles, you need a co-pilot – a partner who shares a vision, yet masters different professional discipline. In short: two partners, two specialist areas, one aim and the explicit will to share," says Eric van Walle.

And our will to share is great. In 2021, we concluded numerous partnerships. They provide a strong stimulus or structured framework for the way in which we drive nuclear medicine forward, approach research into waste and disposal and aim to achieve our largest projects. "This annual report brings together all these partnerships, which are of priceless value, and introduces you to our cherished co-pilots. You will not only meet partners who have saved us a great many air miles, such as the Belgian company IRE or the Belgian waste manager ONDRAF/NIRAS. We welcomed some new co-pilots into our cockpit too. These include the Belgian aviation specialist SABCA and the Canadian start-up POINT Biopharma," Eric van Walle concludes.

Browse through this annual report and meet our cherished co-pilots!
