Continued health surveillance

Even after their careers are over, some SCK CEN employees are entitled to continued health surveillance in accordance with the collective labour agreement of 15 February 2022. Below, you can read about who qualifies for this and what exactly health surveillance entails.

SCK CEN - Voortgezet gezondheidstoezicht (2025)

CLA of 15 February 2022

The collective labour agreement of 15 February 2022, concluded within the Joint Committee for the Chemical Industry, stipulates that certain employees are entitled to ‘continued health surveillance’ for five years after the start date of their retirement.

Who is eligible?

Retirees have the choice whether or not to participate in the medical examination. There is no obligation whatsoever. However, they must meet several conditions in order to take advantage of this, as continued health surveillance forms part of a collective labour agreement (CLA).

That collective labour agreement applies to:

  • Employees who retired on 1 January 2022 or later
  • Employees who had completed at least five years of service at that time
  • Employees who were exposed to health risks during their career.

In this regard, work performed in front of a monitor is not considered a health risk.

What does that health surveillance entail?

The scope of the medical examination will be the same as the most recent medical examination the employee received before retiring. SCK CEN employees who retired from 1 January 2022 to 1 June 2025 inclusive can still register for this by contacting HRM.

Do you qualify and do you wish to take advantage of this?
If so, please contact our department HRM.
