Facilities for handling highly radioactive and/or toxic materials

The Laboratory for High and Medium Activity (LHMA), together with our BR2 reactor, plays an active role in the handling, transport and testing of materials and fissile materials.

LHMA consists of a number of facilities suitable for handling dangerous materials, specifically radioactive and/or toxic materials. For example glove boxes and hot cells equipped with robotic arms to safely handle radioactive materials/parts from a distance. Here, you will find a variety of equipment to test irradiated materials and prepare, condition and store samples.
