As an "Instrumentation and Automation Engineer" you will design, implement and maintain electrical installations for the instrumentation, control, steering and power for nuclear irradiation experiments in our BR2 reactor and reactor research test facilities. In more specific terms:

  • designing and preparing specifications for instrumentation components and data acquisition systems from functional diagrams (P&ID); calibrating, commissioning and operating this equipment
  • designing, ordering, assembly follow-up and commissioning of automation boards based on design specifications
  • detailing electrical diagrams with EPLAN, preparations for sign construction and electrical inspection
  • selecting, ordering and having electrical mounting hardware and other equipment installed
  • performing repairs and maintenance on existing installations, especially electrical and pneumatic installations
  • managing and monitoring internal/external electricians
  • providing electrical advice regarding risk analyses (including HAZOP) for the installations to be designed
  • programming and implementing automation systems (PLCs, motor controllers, control systems, etc.)
  • preparing test and measurement procedures, preparation of manuals and maintenance instructions, preparation of various documents including in the context of changes to installations, the management of construction files

To join this frontier, you'll need

  • Master's degree in Industrial Science (industrial engineer) preferably in the area of electromechanics, electricity, measurement and control engineering or electronics
  • experience in the instrumentation and automation industry, preferably in the design, implementation, inspection and/or operation of electrical installations
  • knowledge of the AREI and standards in harmony with the Machinery Directive
  • knowledge of and/or practical experience with cable calculations, draughtsmanship in EPLAN and programming of Siemens PLC/HMI
  • as well as the ability to function both independently and as part of a team
  • maturity, flexibility and the necessary sense of responsibility 
  • good social skills which will allow you to communicate appropriately with the various departments within the organisation about the progress of projects
  • being prepared to work in "controlled areas" (any area within a nuclear site where extra safety measures apply due to the exposure to radioactive radiation) and to participate in a permanent rotation check
