For the first time in ten years, we open the doors of our nuclear site to the general public. You will surely come along?

On 9 April 2022, it will be exactly 70 years since the creation of SCK CEN, the Belgian nuclear research centre. Our original mission? Promote nuclear energy in Belgium and start the atomic era. In the meantime, 70 years have passed and we keep tapping into new research fields. From the fight against cancer, long space missions and new, future reactors to knowledge about materials and nuclear fuels...

Every day, our research contributes to a better world.
And you can witness it from close by.

Expect a 2-3 hour visit during which you will learn everything about radioactivity and nuclear applications. From special infrastructure to the latest technologies and the pioneering search for answers to life's big questions...

What is there to see and to do?

  • Visit the control room of an active reactor
  • Dive into a reactor vessel thanks to virtual reality
  • Follow a demo on radioprotection
  • Meet leading international scientists
  • Find out all about radioactivity
  • And much more!
