PanTera officially kicks off construction of production hall

Yesterday evening, PanTera broke ground for its Actinium Production Centre (APC). This milestone enables our joint venture with IBA to begin realising its long-term ambition of producing actinium on a large scale.

In mid-June, PanTera was granted all the necessary licences for its production hall. The Federal Agency for Nuclear Control (FANC) issued the establishment and operating licence, while the province of Antwerp granted the environmental permit. Now that all the permits are in place, the time has finally come. Yesterday, PanTera celebrated the start of construction.

“We are not just building a hall; we are opening up new prospects. Through our actinium production, we are paving the way for innovative cancer treatments that have the potential to greatly enhance patients' quality of life,” said Sven Van den Berghe, CEO of PanTera. No fewer than 115 PanTera employees, investors, partners and local politicians attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Commercial delivery in 2029

Reliability is essential for the medical sector, which must be able to rely on a consistent supply of actinium-225. PanTera wants to provide this assurance by producing actinium-225 on a large scale. The company is aiming for a production volume of hundreds of curies per year. The production hall is expected to be operational by 2028, with the first commercial deliveries of actinium-225 anticipated in 2029.
