RADAR

An ultra-versatile 3D ALARA planning tool

RADAR is a next-generation 3D dose assessment tool developed by SCK CEN. Designed to easily and accurately calculate dosing in changing and complex environments, RADAR helps map out projects and compare simulations and scenarios to determine the safest way of working and minimise costs.

RADAR workflow

1. Create 3D environment or import scan

Upload CAD files, 3D scans, or use inituitive tools to easily replicate any radiological working environment.

2. Define radiation source

Establish the source, size, and strength of the radiation.

3. Create scenarios and routes

Simulate technician routes and operations to calculate effective dose down to the second.

4. Simulation

Calculate and compare the effectiveness of different routes, shielding positions, and shielding materials.

5. Visualisation

A fully 3D dosemap shows radiation, hotspots, and shielding effects to help you choose the best approach.

Our goal with RADAR has always been to create a tool that genuinely supports its users, one that makes it easy to understand what is safe, all powered by solid, proven science. For me, that smooth blend of usability and scientific rigor is RADAR's true strength.
Mahmoud Abdelrahman, lead developer RADAR and computational dosimetry expert at SCK CEN

Pasquale Lombardo

ANUBIS - the origins of RADAR

Initially conceptualised as part of the European ANUBIS project, RADAR began as a tool for decommissioning nuclear installations. However, the tool soon expanded in scope, and today RADAR is without a doubt the single most versatile ALARA tool available on the market. RADAR creators Pasquale Lombardo, PhD, and Mahmoud Abdelrahman, PhD, envisioned a modern ALARA tool that accurately calculates dosage in changing and complex environments, with a user-friendly interface and a versatile backend that can quickly evaluate multiple scenarios.
