Opening of SpectronRx's European facility draws closer
SpectronRx plans to start with the radiolabeling of actinium-225 in Europe in 2025
SpectronRx from the United States and the Belgian nuclear research centre SCK CEN are putting their plans into action. “Having formalised our cooperation by concluding an official and binding contract means that the opening of SpectronRx's first facility in Europe is now another step closer,” the two organisations said. That facility will focus on the labelling of radiopharmaceuticals to the therapeutic radioisotope actinium-225. At the moment, both partners are preparing the laboratories and installing the necessary infrastructure and processes to prepare the facility for production. Completion is scheduled for November 2024. The first delivery of actinium-225 will follow in the first quarter of 2025 – once GMP certification has been approved.
Back in 2023, SpectronRx and SCK CEN signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) leading to the arrival of that facility. The binding contract that has now been signed will serve to strengthen the cooperation that already existed between them. In the MOU, it was agreed that SpectronRx will provide state-of-the-art equipment and a quality system with GMP-qualified procedures, whilst SCK CEN will deploy the necessary human resources and provide SpectronRx with operational support to meet the intended development objectives and production targets.
