Overview

This lab session covers the issues of the experimental methods used for on-line reactivity monitoring of ADS systems and for the measurements of the main neutronic parameters for subcritical and critical cores on the base of the experience gained in FREYA project at VENUS-Fand GENEPI–3C facilities.

Topics

The following topics will be treated in this training course:

  • Zero power experiments for Gen-IV design (MYRRHA)
  • Description of the facilities and core characterization measurements
  • Methods to control subcriticality
  • Analysis of the results, computer codes
  • Transfer FREYA experience to MYRRHA

Audience

This training course is intended for Master and PhD students.

Required Knowledge

The required level for the training course is Master of nuclear engineering. 

Preparation

There is no preparation needed.

Price

This WP5 lab session is funded by the FREYA project and therefore free of charge for PhD and master students.

Accommodation

The course is held at the Lakehouse of the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre, Boeretang 201, BE-2400 Mol, Belgium.

Rooms can be booked directly via the Lakehouse hotel.

Please note that the Lakehouse restaurant and bar doesn't serve any meals in the evening. Nevertheless you can order a sandwich at the reception desk of the Lakehouse during lunch break.
