The agreement

Highlights 2025

Sometimes, the contours of a better world begin with one simple stroke of a pen. An agreement that unites international partners in creating social impact.

  • SCK CEN - Ondertekening consortium SMR (2025)

Pioneering nuclear European organisations team up to develop a next-generation lead-cooled small modular reactor: EAGLES-300

    16/06/2025

Four of Europe’s leading nuclear technology organisations—Ansaldo Nucleare, ENEA, RATEN, and SCK CEN—have signed today the creation of the Eagles Consortium. This new consortium aims to develop and commercialise EAGLES-300, a next-generation lead-cooled Small Modular Reactor (SMR).

    EAGLES consortium launches international pre-licensing

    16/09/2025

In September 2025, the EAGLES consortium and nuclear supervisors in Belgium (FANC), Italy (ISIN) and Romania (CNCAN) officially launched the international pre-licensing of lead-cooled small, modular reactors (SMR): EAGLES-300. This is a first, because never before have national supervisors already worked together in the design phase of an advanced SMR. The kick-off was marked with a signing ceremony in the presence of IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi and Minister for Energy Mathieu Bihet.

  • SCK CEN - BeCRA - Cancer plan (2025)

    SCK CEN joins BeCRA

    27/11/2025

The Belgian health institute Sciensano announced the establishment of the Belgian Cancer Research Alliance (BeCRA) with great pomp. And with good reason, as this alliance provides Europe with a strong partner in the fight against cancer. By coordinating and streamlining cancer research at a national level, BeCRA is responding (even more so) to the European cancer control plan. “We are really proud to be involved from the outset,” says Sarah Baatout, Deputy Institute Director of NMA.

  • SCK CEN - Navigo Proteins (2025)

SCK CEN and Navigo Proteins aim to bring radioligand therapy to patients more rapidly

    01/04/2025

The nuclear research centre SCK CEN and German biotech company Navigo Proteins are joining forces. Their unique, combined expertise in carrier molecules and radioisotopes will enhance the development of radioligand therapy. As such, a better quality of life for cancer patients comes ever closer.
