Général

Ionising radiation offers various applications in industry and in the medical sector. It is a challenge to sufficiently protect the workers, public and environment against possible detrimental effects of radiation.

This training session is part of a series of sessions organised in the framework of the continuous professional development  in radiation protection in the medical sector. The aim is to discuss the most recent status of relevant subjects in radiation protection for professionals responsible for the supervision of exposed workers, public and environment. Emphasis is put on practical information and on interaction with the participants.

This training session is eligible for 3 hours of continuous professional development in radiation protection for the prolongation of the certification of occupational doctors. A certificate of attendance will be provided.

Sujets

  • Decontamination of persons
  • Visit decontamination wing of the medical service of SCK•CEN and the laboratory for antropogammametry

Groupe cible

All professionals who are directly involved in the control or supervision of radiation protection issues, such as:

  • Medical Doctors for medical supervision;
  • Medical Specialists in Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy;
  • Experts in Health Physics who supervise the measures in radiation protection in the medical sector.

Connaissances nécessaires

Knowledge of the basic principles of ionising radiation is recommended, but not required.

 No preparation is required for this training course.

Upon completion of this training course, the participant will be able to:

In terms of knowledge

  • List the decontamination approaches of intact and damaged skin (skinburns)
  • Describe possible a approach to mitigate a contamination after inhalation and ingestion

In terms of autonomy/responsibility

  • Acknowledge the difficulties arising when a person is internally contaminated
  • Acknowledge the limitations of different decontamination methods

Prix

The registration fee is 175,00 EUR, VAT included (145,00 EUR + 21% VAT) and includes the course material and coffee break.

Cancellation with total refund is only possible until May 31, 2019.
