Général

Vulnerability has become an important concept in hazards research, particularly concerning environmental hazards in the geographical research field, but also in engineering, economy, and social science. The aim of this Topical Day is to discuss and compare different approaches of vulnerability analysis as they are formulated and applied in very different fields of research.

Six speakers will present the rationale of the approach(es) in his/her domain (engineering, geography, political science, sociology and economy) and explain how these model(s) or theories are applied in practice. After all the presentations, a structured debate will be organized in order to foster cross-fertilization and mutual understanding. From this, a summary will be made regarding the state of the art and further research perspectives.

Groupe cible

This Topical Day intends to bring together colleagues from research institutions and universities interested in safety management and interdisciplinary approaches, as well as practitioners from different industries.
