Accessibility statement

SCK CEN undertakes to make this site accessible in accordance with the following legislation: Act of 19 July 2018 on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public organisations.

This accessibility statement applies to:

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant, due to the non-compliances and exemptions below.

Preparing your statement

An internal accessibility audit was conducted. This audit was a simplified analysis. You can read the report here: https://www.sckcen.be/sites/default/files/uploads/A11Y-report/sck-cen-accessibility-audit.pdf

Non-accessible content

Overall, the site scores quite well, but there are some minor issues that need to be fixed. The most pressing issues relate to site observability (contrast ratio does not meet requirements) and site robustness (50% failure of two criteria).

Improvement Plan

The main issue concerns the contrast ratio which does not meet the requirements. SCK CEN undertakes to address this, i.e. provide sufficient colour contrast between text and background colours to make the content readable. We also provide alternative text for all digital media (images, videos) and aim for clear link texts that accurately describe the destination of a link. That means we avoid generic terms like "click here" or "read more".

SCK CEN takes the necessary measures to ensure that the website continues to function reliably across different web browsers and technologies. We will ensure that the website is responsive and adapts well to different screen sizes and resolutions so that it is always accessible with Braille computers, screen readers, speech recognition software, etc. Further review how to align the website with the guidelines formulated in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

SCK CEN will conduct regular accessibility tests to check whether the improvements are effective.
