Visit the interactive science exhibition on nuclear research at Tabloo

Tabloo, an information -, training- and experience centre, is set up by ONDRAF/NIRAS as part of the surface disposal project for Belgian low and intermediate level short-lived waste. The Tabloo building is adjacent to the site of the future disposal facility for radioactive waste in Dessel.
This communication centre is a reference and hub for all information relating to radioactivity and a meeting point for the local population as well as for visitors from many places.

On the second floor Tabloo houses a large, interactive science exhibition on radioactivity, waste management and nuclear research in Belgium. In the latter part, designed by SCK CEN, visitors are guided through SCK CEN’s innovative research in the field of nuclear science and technology and its large and unique nuclear installations.

Throughout the exhibition visitors discover how SCK CEN explores a better tomorrow in various domains. The broadness of SCK CEN its activities is reflected in the introduction film and the interactive ‘nuclear research closet’ in which visitors can open drawers highlighting different topics.  As a visitor you find out how diagnosis and treatment of cancer can be improved by nuclear research. It will even be possible to start up a research reactor and manipulate radioactive material in a mock-up of a hotcell. At the end of the exhibition visitors will get a glimpse of the future….

We are happy to invite you to the science exhibition ‘Tabloo’ from March 2022.
More information on general visits and an update on the opening can be found on the Tabloo website.
General as well as educational visits on the ‘nuclear research’ part within Tabloo can be requested later via this website page.
