Table Top is a 2.3 kW water/steam open loop facility under operation at SCK CEN. The main goal of the loop is to test a single tube of the MYRRHA Prmary Heat EXchanger (scaled down in length). A series of preliminary tests have been performed during the commissioning phase to investigate the range of operation of the facility and to refine the procedures to operate it. These tests deal with:
- Operation at a saturation pressure in the range [8-16] bara
- Operation at different power levels in the range [1.0-2.3] kW
- Development of a procedure to drain the facility by boiling at atmospheric pressure (dryout)
Objective
This master thesis deals with post-test analysis these tests by means of TH system code RELAP 5 3.3 based on an existing model of the plant. The candidate will follow this program.
- Bibliographic research on single and two phase natural circulation and dryout
- Training on the use of RELAP 5 3.3 code
- Post processing of the experimental tests (minimum 3 out of 5 tests)
- Contribute to pre-test analysis of the next experimental campaign (optional)
- Write a final summary report
- Write a summary paper (optional)
The duration of the thesis is 12 to 24 weeks and the
