Nuclear Careers Day

With the organisation of this 'Nuclear career day', students and young professionals will be introduced to the different nuclear career opportunities that exist in Belgium and at the IAEA.

The morning programme is dedicated to discovering

  • Academic opportunities to support a nuclear career, such as
    • BNEN programme in nuclear engineering
    • Radiation Protection Expert course
    • Medical Physics programmes
    • Other Master courses in nuclear related topics
  • Existing career pathways at IAEA and other Belgian employers
  • Testimonials of students and young professionals working in different branches in nuclear.

During a walking lunch, participants can effectively network at the booths of participating companies, institutions and networks (such as IAEA, SCK•CEN, FANC-AFCN, NIRAS/ONDRAF, Rad4Med, ...).

In the afternoon programme, technical visits to various nuclear facilities (in industry, medical and research) are scheduled.

The programme will be concluded with a social event in the evening which will allow for networking in an informal way. This evening activity will be organized by the BNS-YG.

13:00 – 14:00    Transfer to technical visits

14:30 – 16:30    Technical visits

17:00 – 18:00    Transfer to social event

19:00 - 22:00     Social event in Brussels




This event is aimed at Master and PhD students in sciences and engineering and young professionals with an interest in pursuing a career in nuclear industry, the medical area, research, or any other activity dealing with peaceful nuclear applications.

Online registration is mandatory for all participants via the SCK•CEN Academy website.
Registration will be opened on: April 1, 2015.
The registration deadline is May 5, 2015.


The morning programme will be organised at the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts in Brussels.
