Together with a large team of ambitious engineers and researchers, SCK CEN wants to solve the nuclear waste issue and develop new medical radioisotopes to treat cancer patients by means of the MYRRHA project (www.myrrha.be ). The MYRRHA project’s first implementation phase (start of commissioning scheduled for 2027) consists of a ≈160m long, superconducting, high power proton accelerator with one of a kind reliability and two target facilities for research into radioisotopes, radioactive ion beam physics and nuclear fusion reactor materials. To help us achieve our ambitious goals, we are looking for a supply chain manager for managing a multi-million € investment pipeline. Responsibilities:

  •     offer practical support to technical project teams with the aim of developing and documenting project requirements for setting-up public procurement files. This includes capturing and analyzing procurement needs, advising on procurement strategies, supporting market research, coaching technical experts in formulating their technical specifications, gathering information and finalizing project inputs for the Purchasing department.  
  •     closely collaborate with Purchasing and Legal department for establishing and implementing purchase agreements. Take initiative to optimize the process where needed, with focus on quality and efficiency. Define and implement additional work instructions as required. Together with Purchasing, decide upon optimum planning of the MINERVA tender pipeline, monitor execution and take initiative to anticipate/ resolve potential issues.
  •     participate in negotiations and resolving issues with suppliers. Follow-up execution of selected purchase agreements.
  •     define and manage logistic solutions for all external supplies where needed.
  •     prepare proposals for programme wide supply framework agreements in selected areas and, once established, ensure their implementation.
  •     set the framework for asset management in MINERVA. Bring the asset management in practice.
  •     consult with MINERVA cost controller and quality manager on financial/ quality aspects.

To join this frontier, you'll need

  •     MSc (or similar through experience), preferably in engineering sciences.
  •     have at least 5 years of experience in the following areas: supply chain management (preferably in the context of large engineering projects in a technological/ research environment), issuing/negotiating technical specifications and delivery terms & conditions, follow-up and coordination of the execution of procurement contracts, application of asset management tools and processes.
  •     experience with the Belgian legislation on public tendering is a strong asset.
  •     fast learner with the ability to quickly familiarize with high-tech environment.
  •     strategic thinker, combined with strong organizational and implementation skills, able to approach the matter at hand with a broad perspective, including all aspects (contractual, technical, executional).
  •     hands-on mindset with a strong sense of urgency.
  •     excellent in oral and written communication. Express (him / her)self fluently in English, and in Dutch or French, both orally as in writing.
