Is preventive medicine a cause close to your heart?

SCK CEN is looking for an occupational physician.
In this position, the following elements form part of your duties:

  • You will conduct medical consultations to ensure medical surveillance of employees. You will do this for SCK CEN, VITO and Belgoprocess. In addition, this will specifically involve the deployment of employees in controlled areas in accordance with applicable laws
  • After obtaining your Class I qualification, you will be jointly responsible for performing all tasks assigned to an accredited occupational physician (Class I nuclear facilities). You must also be willing to participate in on-call working (including outside normal working hours) in the event of emergencies
  • You will be jointly responsible for ensuring effective day-to-day cooperation with the other disciplines within SCK CEN's Internal Service for Prevention and Protection at Work (ISPPW) and with its associated companies in each of the following areas: physical checks/radiological protection, occupational safety, ergonomics, occupational hygiene and psychosocial well-being. When performing certain sub-tasks, you will collaborate with HRM and external prevention advisors
  • You will provide, possibly in due course, internal and external training in the area of radiation protection
  • You will participate both internally and externally in the Committee for Prevention and Protection at Work (CPPW) meetings and safety rounds

To join this frontier, you'll need

  • A Master's degree in Medicine & Occupational Medicine
  • A Postgraduate degree in Radioprotection is a plus, as is holding a Class I qualification with the Federal Agency for Nuclear Control (FANC). You must be willing to obtain that qualification if you do not already have it
  • Good diplomatic and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently but to be a team player in equal measure
