Exciting opportunity available for a skilled Nuclear Experimental Infrastructure Manager to oversee hot (nuclear) experiments and metal melting processes, driving the establishment of innovative R&D methodologies and the installation of cutting-edge infrastructure in the controlled area.

As the Nuclear Experimental Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the lab infrastructure and experimental activities related to nuclear experiments. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the nuclear research facility, optimizing experimental procedures, and executing or coordinating resources for successful experimental outcomes. Furthermore, you will be in charge of lab-experiments, designed to understand industrial scale behavior of high temperature processes. The following tasks are under your responsibility:

  • participate to the procurement and installation of the experimental infrastructure and equipment, ensuring its long term functionality and compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • participate to the setup and tests of the experimental infrastructure and equipment
  • design and implement experimental protocols and procedures for nuclear experiments, including the setup and operation of specialized equipment
  • lead safety assessments and risk analyses for experimental activities, implementing protocols to mitigate hazards associated with nuclear experiments and controlled zone operations
  • operate the hot lab, and oversee the use of the hot lab by others
  • develop and oversee training programs for laboratory personnel on experimental techniques, safety protocols, and radiation protection measures
  • take care of the maintenance of the experimental infrastructure and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements

To join this frontier, you'll need

  • diploma in one of the following fields: chemistry, physics, material science & engineering, nuclear engineering, pyrometallurgy, metal processing
  • a combination of technical expertise, managerial skills, safety awareness, and a commitment to advancing nuclear research in a safe and controlled environment and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team is essential for success in this role
  • knowledge in coordinating and conducting nuclear experimental facilities with understanding of regulatory requirements for handling radioactive materials and nuclear waste
  • familiarity with nuclear safety regulations and protocols, particularly in experimental settings and understanding of nuclear engineering principles and experimental methodologies
  • demonstrated capability in planning and coordinating experimental activities with ability to collaborate effectively with researchers, scientists, and technical staff to ensure goals are met
  • experience in providing training to laboratory personnel on experimental procedures and safety practices
  • ability to create a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the experimental team
  • proficiency in troubleshooting experimental setups and resolving technical issues
  • commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting responsible conduct in nuclear research and experimentation
