We are ready to build our accelerator. Are you?

MYRRHA will be the world’s first sub-critical, particle accelerator-driven reactor to safely produce nuclear energy while solving the nuclear waste issue. But there’s still a lot of work to be done, such as constructing MINERVA – the project’s first implementation phase that consists of a 100 MeV high-power, superconducting particle accelerator and a proton target facility for the development of (new) medical radioisotopes.
The beam commissioning of this accelerator facility is scheduled for 2026. To help us achieve this goal, we are looking for a High-power RF engineer for accelerator applications
In this position, you will:

  • be co-responsible for the high-power RF system of the high-power superconducting linear particle accelerator
  • define and procure all high-power RF components together with colleagues, international collaboration partners and suppliers while taking into account all requirements in terms of operational performance, mechanical integration, safety
  • define the infrastructure requirements and ensure its integration into the control and LLRF system
  • assume the technical contract follow-up and manage the installation and commissioning
  • keep all technical documentation, including drawings and quality assurance records, up-to-date
  • provide support to the operation of the accelerator
  • ensure that all systems comply with the extraordinary high reliability requirements

To join this frontier, you'll need

  • master’s or PhD degree in electrical engineering, physics or equivalent
  • experience in high-power RF engineering
  • experience with high-power, solid-state amplifiers or accelerating cavities is an asset
  • ability to communicate in a multidisciplinary, international environment
  • good knowledge of English; knowledge of French/Dutch is considered an extra asset
  • you will work in Mol but in the first three years visit our office in Louvain-la-Neuve on a regular basis
