We are ready to build our accelerator. Are you?

MYRRHA will be the world’s first sub-critical, particle accelerator driven reactor, cooled by a lead-bismuth eutectic. Our main mission is to build MYRRHA and use it as a research reactor. But there’s still a lot of work to be done, such as constructing MINERVA – the project’s first phase that consists of a particle accelerator and a proton target facility. The commissioning of this accelerator facility is scheduled for 2026. Along with large teams of ambitious engineers and researchers, SCK CEN is aiming to develop new medical radioisotopes and solve the nuclear waste issue. To help us achieve our ambitious goals, we are looking for an integration coordinator. In this position, you will:

  • assume responsibility for the mechanical integration activities on all proton beam lines and the overall tunnel integration, as well as the utility rooms such as the RF gallery and accelerator labs;
  • act as the main contact from the accelerator group for the NFS group, which is responsible for the building construction and technical infrastructure, including EMI, interface specifications, cooling and ventilation and alignment;
  • coordinate the work of the components expert, external companies and collaboration partners to ensure that a coherent en complete 3D CAD modelling of the accelerator systems is created;
  • be responsible for the planning and procurement of all girders and support systems;
  • define the required central data collection such as rack lists, cabling lists and fiducialisation standards;
  • ensure a smooth transfer of the injector beam line installed in Louvain-La-Neuve to its final location in Mol with help of the technical colleagues;
  • along with the accelerator group leader and its project officer, play a key coordinating role in the planning and execution of the installation;
  • once the accelerator is operational, contribute to its operation e.g. by maintenance planning and coordination

To join this frontier, you'll need

  • Master in mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent
  • experience in the integration of karge scale complex technical machines is a strong asset
  • experience with particle accelerator facilities is an additional asset but not compulsory
  • strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • ability to perform activities effectively and efficiently
  • you will work in Mol, with travel to Louvain-la-Neuve, other collaborations and industrial partners
  • reporting directly to the Accelerator Group Leader (ADB)
