I am wondering if anyone has information on visual exam machines used in nuclear hot cells.
I have been hired by Ken Rosenberg from the (INL) Idaho National Laboratory to write an evaluation on a visual exam machine for a nuclear hot cell. Ken is looking into buying a new visual exam machine. There is currently a visual exam machine in-place with a stage to move fuel elements and a periscope to view and take pictures of the fuel elements. The visual exam machine was fabricated in the early 1970's. The periscope has electrical controls which have quit working due to the lack of maintenance and radiation. The stage for the visual exam machine can possibly be renovated and used with a new visual exam machine. The hot cell walls are approximately 1.25 meters thick. We need some type of periscope that could penetrate the hot cell wall and take pictures of the fuel elements with a camera capable of 40-80 X magnification and 5 megapixel.
If you could send me any information, I would appreciate it.
