ENEN: European Nuclear Education Network Association
ENEN
The temporary European Nuclear Engineering Network, established through the European 5th Framework Programme project ENEN (2002-2003), was given a more permanent character by the foundation on 22 September 2003 of the European Nuclear Education Network Association, a non-profit-making association according to the French law of 1901, pursuing a pedagogic and scientific aim.
Its main objective is the preservation and the further development of higher nuclear education and expertise. This objective is realized through the co-operation between the European universities, involved in education and research in the nuclear engineering field, the nuclear research centres and the nuclear industry.
NEPTUNO
The 5th Framework Project was followed in the 6th Framework Programme by the NEPTUNO project (2004-2005). The Nuclear European Platform for Training and University Organisations expanded the activities of the ENEN Association to international exchange courses, training sessions, seminars and the awarding of the first series of European Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering Certificates.
ENEN-II
In 2006, a new 6th Framework Programme project was started under the name ENEN-II, consolidating the achievements of the former projects and expanding the scope of the ENEN Association education and training activities into the fields of Radiation Protection, Radioecology, Radiochemistry and Geological Disposal of Nuclear Waste.
