Young scientific researchers & Post-doc theses

Young scientific researchers

More than ever, applications of radioactivity and nuclear technology are of interest to society, and the need for continuous research on new technologies, radiological protection and on ways to involve civil society in nuclear technology assessment is now widely acknowledged.

SCK•CEN plays an important role in the international research field related to scientific and societal aspects of nuclear technology.
Our research activities are concentrated into the following main fields:

In order to extend its team of young researchers, SCK•CEN supports about 10 positions to PhD candidates and post-doctoral researchers every year.

Final-year students and PhD candidates can enter a programme defined by the SCK•CEN mentor, in close collaboration with a university promotor. Post-docs are mainly recruited in specialized research domains that reflect the priority programmes and R&D topics of SCK•CEN.

More information about the research fields and conditions to postulate can be found in the section Guidance for young researchers. The application period is foreseen from February until April.
