Job description

We are looking for a skilled team of engineers and chemists for a new semi-industrial research project. The engineers will work together for the development and implementation of a new and innovative chemical process oriented towards recycling and purification of nuclear materials which were used for the production of medical radioisotopes. The process consists of different stages among which solution, separation and extraction, precipitation, oxide conversion and metal convers

As chemistry laboratory technician you are responsible for:

  • the design, preparation and setting up of test installations and for carrying out chemical experiments;
  • the preparation and carrying out of chemical experiments such as solution, separation and extraction, precipitation,…;
  • the preparation of analytical samples as well as carrying out the analyses;
  • processing, interpreting and reporting experimental data;
  • the design and writing of working methods and procedures in accordance with the QA guidelines;
  • cooperation for the general management of the laboratories, this includes: keeping track of the chemicals stock, the registration of orders, being responsible for safety, order and cleanliness, looking after waste disposal in accordance with the guidelines,…

Required qualifications

  • Professional Bachelor’s Degree (short type higher education with full curriculum) in chemistry, preferably a specialisation in analytical chemistry or process chemistry or any related degree;
  • knowledge of radiochemistry, separation chemistry or redox chemistry is an asset;
  • experience in laboratory applications is desirable;
  • being prepared to work with radioactive samples in controlled areas;
  • strong observation and problem-solving skills;
  • being able to work with precision, meticulousness and punctuality;
  • eager to learn, taking initiatives and being organized;
  • being able to work in a team or by yourself;
  • good communication skills (oral and written);
  • good knowledge of office tools (MS Office,…);
  • good knowledge of Dutch and English.
