Job description

We are looking for a skilled team of engineers and chemists for a new semi-industrial research project. The engineers will work together for the development and implementation of a new and innovative chemical process oriented towards recycling and purification of nuclear materials which were used for the production of medical radioisotopes. The process consists of different stages among which solution, separation and extraction, precipitation, oxide conversion and metal conversion.

As Chemical installations engineer you are responsible for:

  • the organisation and coordination of the design and development of innovative nuclear technical installations such as process installations in glove boxes and lead shielding cells in the Chemistry building;
  • the preparation and creation of security files and operation licenses for new installations and laboratories in accordance with current regulations and norms;
  • managing the Chemistry building which consists of, for example, working in collaboration with the building coordinators for the secure and sustainable operation of the infrastructure such as glove boxes, lead shielding cells and ventilation, being responsible for the organization and planning of technical installations maintenance and innovation, updating security files and procedures in accordance with current regulations,…

Required qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Industrial Sciences (Industrial Engineer) preferably in chemistry, nuclear techniques, electro mechanics or any related degree;
  • relevant professional experience is desirable;
  • being ready to work with radioactive materials in controlled areas;
  • security-conscious with sense of responsibility;
  • enthusiast and company-oriented;
  • team-oriented with good communication skills in order to work in an international context within a multidisciplinary team;
  • being creative, result-oriented and able to work on your own;
  • strong organisational and written reporting skills;
  • good knowledge of office tools (MS Office,…);
  • good knowledge of Dutch and English, knowledge of French is an asset.
