SCK•CEN is located in a unique 334 hectare rural setting stretching from Mol-Achterbos to Mol-Donk. Barely 10% of this surface area is occupied by the technical site, including research reactors, laboratories and offices. Woods, fields, water features, roads and lanes occupy more than half of the entire space.
We manage this woodland in accordance with good practice and on the basis of an approved woodland management plan. This means that we ourselves are responsible for the thinning out and planting of the trees, the maintenance of the fire access roads, etc.
Domain and social infrastructure
SCK•CEN offers its staff numerous housing facilities: houses, villas, studios and furnished single rooms. These facilities are offered subject to a waiting list. We also offer bicycle and garage rental.
